In 1971, while the world focused on the war that saw Bangladesh break away from Pakistan, the Indian army captured Turtuk and three other villages in the Gilgit-Baltistan region from Pakistan, leading in each case to families torn apart and connections lost. Turtuk is renowned for its apricot and walnut orchards and has witnessed the construction of paved roads, government schools and other infrastructure. They recently got access to the internet and a good school with quality educators are of dire need here. To help them build their new school, I thought of giving a small task to Aamir, who has come from Turtuk to Mumbai along with his friends and teachers. This task is not meant for him to achieve any monetary means but as a milestone that makes him realise that the world is unfair, hard and also kind. This task will also help him unshackle from self-doubt and lack of confidence due to existing in the confined environment of LOCs.
